Greg, Sian and I have just finished our second day of training with Sekiguchi Soke. This is the third seminar that Greg and I have attended.
This seminar has differed in many respects to the ones we have attended in recent years. We have the honour of also training with Sonoko Sensei, who has been translating for Soke, and so we have had a greater insight into the philosophical and martial basis of his budo. So far we have explored sword and naginata techniques; repeatedly, in seiza, on a hard concrete floor, while smiling. The seminars with Soke are always hard work, but to train under the 21st headmaster of our style is a wonderful experience and connects us firmly to the koryu tradition.
Who will join us next time, in seiza, on a hard concrete floor, while smiling?
