Teakwondo information now a regular part of the Budo Blog

Jack Jang, the Club's Taekwondo instructor, has just joined the Budo Blog writing team. Make sure that if you are wanting to find out the latest or even to send Jack a message, that you regularly check the Budo Blog, or the BBRD Facebook page where these posts are syndicated!

Welcome Jack!

Reminder: Kendo demonstration at the Pittsworth Judo Club

Just a quick reminder that this Sunday (19th October) the combined Toowoomba kendo dojo will be putting on a display of kendo during the lunch break.

So two things: if you are available to help with the kendo (jigeiko and kata) display, please talk with Michael ASAP so we can organise the demonstration accordingly. Second, if you are wanting to participate in the Judo competition, make sure your JFA-Q membership is up to date and you contact the Pittsworth Judo Club for more details:

Minor refresh of the BBRD website

DSC03010.jpg

In the spirit of keeping the Club website relevant and up to date, we have begun a minor refresh of the content and look. One of the main new features is a search function located on the "Welcome" page. Another you will notice is a new "landing page" that showcases some of the Club's wonderful photos and sums up what the Club is about.

Let us know what you think! we will be continuing to have a play with what we are providing on the site, and what we place on our Facebook page as well. In particular we will be posting more martial art related "finds" from around the net on the page (rather than the group), so make sure you like us to keep getting our Facebook feed.

QKR Seminar 6 & 7 December

Dates, location and prices have now been set for this year's QKR Summer seminar.

Training and grading opportunities will be available in kendo (to sandan) and iaido (to nidan). As always we are looking forward to train under the instruction of Queensland's most senior sensei and catch up with fellow practitioners from around the State.

The seminar will again be held at the Collingwood Park Sports Complex, Redbank Plains. Cost will be $30 for the weekend or $20 for one day.

One administrative difference from previous years is that all applications for grading must be submitted no later than Friday 20 November. Please make sure that you talk to Michael B or Ryo well before then if you intend to grade that weekend.

Saturday jujutsu training now starting at 12pm

We are going to trial starting a little later for Saturday jujutsu. From this weekend we will commence training at midday.

It was great to see everyone there this week, and look forward to seeing more of you there over the coming weeks!

Jujutsu this Saturday

This week coming is a Long weekend, but we will still be holding jujutsu training in the morning from 10.30am–12pm.

Hope to see you there this weekend!

Spread the word!

One of the things I am wanting to do over the next two months is to continue working to raise the profile of the Club through the wider community. Part of that will be revisiting how we put the Club "out there" and make it easier for people to know what we do and to find us.

The growth of any Club is partially driven by word of mouth and the recommendations of people within it. With that said, I'd like to ask that you think about who in your circle of friends and acquaintances might be interested in receiving regular information about the Club

For those of you on Facebook, think about people who you can invite to "like" the Club's Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/BBRDMartialArts (and make sure you like it yourself if you haven't yet). For others, invite them to subscribe to the Budo Bulletin so they get the posts in the mail!

Jujutsu NCAS wrap up.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who participated on Sunday for the NCAS practical evaluation sessions. The sessions were in effect a mini-seminar and as always it was marvellous to see and experience the way other instructors approach their art.

I wanted to thank Peter Hills who provided us with the space at his home dojo and his hospitality afterwards, and to Lauren, Maaike, Tracey and Jess who came down with me for the day and threw themselves into each of the sessions (as they do each week in class). And of course thanks to Michael Nash, Josh Maygar, and Danial Smith for their sessions!

I'm sure that we can look forward to more opportunities to share and train with each other.
