Hi guys,
With Covid-19 restrictions being wound down and hopefull gone soon, it’s time to start gearing up to start practice once again.
This includes doing a bit of running or other cardio fitness, looking over you bogu, cleaning uniforms or breaking out new ones, doing maintanance on your shinai, and also making sure all your State/National memberships are up to date. Now is the perfect time.
Normally, Queensland Kendo Renmei (QKR) and Australian Kendo Renmei (AKR) memberships need to be renewed by the end of June. However, recognising the difficulties caused by COVID-19 lockdowns, you will have till the end of August to renew/join. The QKR has changed the way memberships work, by having a single fee regardless of how many disciplines you do, and a change in what counts as a junior now being under 18 rather than under 16.
But wait! It gets better. If you put in your membership before 31st August 2020 the cost will be reduced to $65/adult and $45 per child (under 18 years old) membership forms can be downloaded and printed HERE .
Please note though that if you are an ongoing/returning member, you will need to have current QKR membership before you will be allowed to train, so that you are fully covered by insurance.
We are still a little way off from going back to regular classes, as we will need to be at least at Stage 3 of the Queensland governments restrictions easing framework. Behind the scenes we are working to make sure we can get back to things ASAP, and will provide some advice over the next couple of weeks regarding what you can do to make yourself ready to get back into training.
Will look forward to seeing everyone back into things, and don’t forget we are still doing kendo suburi on a Saturday afternoon from 3.00–3.30 pm.
Thanks
Sean T
